Big Dance 2012

 It is great to have a good family and true friends. The students  and teachers of Secondary school #38, Sevastopol are lucky to be a part of Connecting Classrooms family and have true friends in and around Ukraine.

 On 18 May, 200 pupils from 15 Ukrainian schools took part in the Big Dance festival, which is a global initiative of the Cultural Olympiad in the lead-up to the London 2012 Games.

When the Olympic Torch arrived to Britain on 18 May, thousands of school students performed 5 min dance routine in more than 100 countries around the world in an attempt to break a new Guinness World Record.

  Dmitry Pechenka, Veronika Smey, Lisa Hovracheva, Vadim Komogaev, Yulia Komarnitskaya,  Yulia Mitroshina with their teachers Kurilenko D.A. and Stepanenko L.Yu. represented  Secondary School # 38 at this international event at P.Tychyna Gymnasia  in Kyiv.

All the participants  enjoyed taking part in the Olympic Quest prepared by the host school.
 We made new friends
 and are looking forward to further project collaboration!

Enjoy English Honouring Ceremony


             In our school the students’ and teachers’ motto is “Enjoy English!”
 Every year a special ceremony of honouring students who enjoy studying  English and have contributed to various extracurricular activities  connected with  the English language and crosscultural communication is held at our school at the end of school year.
 This year the ceremony took place on April27 at our Assembly Hall.


    The BBC News school reporters  were given certificates for their  contribution to the project.


At the ceremony our Connecting Classrooms Project  coordinator Larysa Stepanenko  shared her impressions about  International Coordinators Course in Malta with the teachers, students, their parents and guests.

Mrs Stepanenko also introduced  Big Dance  to the  audience and told about the school willingness  to participate  with the thousands of others around the world.

Daria Kurilenko informed  about the process of preparation for this international event. 


 
On behalf of the school PTC Natalia Kucherenko, the director of Charity organization “ Shilna Ednist”, wished our Big Dance team good luck and  a new world record.
