School Students' Conference ACROSS BRITAIN And UKRAINE

    On February 26, 2013 4th Annual Students' Conference ACROSS BRITAIN And UKRAINE was held at Secondary School #38, Sevastopol,  Ukraine. The topic for the discussion was British and Ukrainian Heritages are Great



   The students of  Year 5a, Year 6a, Year 7a, Year 8b, Year 9a and their teachers and project  coordinators Shurupov V.V., Chernaya K.A., Kurilenko D.A. and Stepanenko L.Yu.   intoduced their  project results and investigations and traced the links between the British and  Ukrainian heritages

"Britain is GREAT" Competition Award Ceremony


We were very happy to get to know the results of the GREAT Campaing Competition which  was organised jointly with the British Council Ukraine within Connecting classrooms project. 


The jury selected the winners in 3 categories: best publication, best video and best photo.

The winners in the best photo category:

1st place – Kalush gymnasium,
2nd place – Shchors district gymnasium,
3rd place –
Sevastopol secondary school No.38.


On 20 December British Ambassador hosted the winners of "Britain is GREAT" competition in his residence.

Two most active project participants  from our school (Dima Pechenka and Yulia Sivryuk, Year 8b) and project coordinator (Stepanenko L.Yu.) were invited to Kyiv to the Award Ceremony

Our project team shared the project results on December 3 with the classmates  and now is  busy summarising  the material  for the reports on the School Students' Conference "British and Ukrainian Heritage" in February 2013.

The "GREAT" Campaign Competition




The students  of  Year7a, Year 8b, Year 9a and their teachers  Stepanenko L.Yu. and Kurilenko D.A. joined the "GREAT" Campaign Competition organised by the British Council (Kyiv) and supported by the British Embassy(Kyiv).
  We have chosen  " Heritage is  Great" topic. 
The nomination is Best Photos.

We decided to present Our Project Photo Diary.

We began our own discovering of the British heritage with the visit to Panorama “The Siege of Sevastopol (1854-1855)”
 













We learnt about the reasons and peculiarities of the War


The Battle of Inkerman, the Battle at the Great Redan,  the Charge of the Light Brigade depicted by  David Rowlands,  Robert Hillingford and Richard Caton  Woodville Jr



We admired the unique relics of the British soldiers kept in Panorama


A repot about heroism of the British and Russian nurses during the Crimean War


Ukrainians take care of the Crimean War Memorials to the British soldiers.
