The Outline of Ukraine

Ukraine is a sovereign country located in Eastern Europe.
 It borders on Russia in  the east, Belarus in the north, Poland, Slovakia and Hungary in the west, Romania and Moldova in the southwest, and the Black Sea and  the Sea of Azov in the south and southwest.




It has an area of 603,628 km² and is the second largest country on the European continent, after Russia

Ukraine is a unitary state composed of 24 oblasts (provinces), one autonomous republic (Crimea), and two cities with special status: Kiev, its capital, and Sevastopol, which is the base of Ukrainian  Navy and houses the Russian Black Sea Fleet under a leasing agreement.

Cities:
Capital - Kyiv (also transliterated as Kiev, pop. 2.8 million).
Biggest cities - Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Odesa, Lviv( pop.more than 1 million)
Sea ports: Odesa, Sevastopol, Nickolayev, Kherson, Mariupol, Yalta and Kerch

Territory : A vast plain mostly bounded by the Carpathian Mountains in the southwest and by the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov in the South.

The main rivers: the Dnieper (Dnipro), Seversky Donets, Dniester and the Southern Buh

Natural resources : iron ore, coal, manganese, natural gas, oil, salt, sulfur, graphite, titanium, magnesium, kaolin, nickel, mercury, timber and an abundance of arable land.

Climate: Continental temperate; sub-tropical in southern Crimea
